once the story began
Plasabali.com was established in 2001 by a man and a woman, who are now husband and wife, Ignatius and Puspa. They lived in the city of Denpasar, 10 kilometers away from the famous Kuta beach and 50 kilometers from Ubud, the center of Bali arts and crafts. Ignatius has a background as a website developer and Puspa is a graduate of the law faculty at Udayana Bali University. At the beginning, neither of them had any background related to making silver jewelry
Bali has long been well-known throughout the world as a tourist destination for its exquisite natural landscapes, unique traditions and culture as well as the expertise of their people in creating high quality traditional arts and crafts that are integrated into the daily life, inherited from their ancestors. The silver craft and jewelry is one of the things that attracts tourists to bring as a souvenir back to their family and relatives when they return from a vacation in Bali. The popularity of Balinese silver jewelry is becoming increasingly widespread and attracts foreign businessmen to trade silver handicrafts from Bali to their countries.
At that time, most of the trading system was still carried out in which buyers directly came to Bali to order and buy silver jewelry items directly from the craftsmen, which they then brought and sold back in their home countries. The situation was very different from what is happening today where everyone can buy and sell goods directly via the internet which is known as electronic commerce or Ecommerce.
Ignatius and Puspa saw this situation as a good business opportunity. They took the initiative to establish a website with the domain name Plasabali.com which allows foreign buyers to buy silver jewelry products from the website without the need to come to Bali, thereby saving transportation and accommodation costs and also time. The buyer just stay and wait for their goods to arrive at their residence or shop and then ready to be immediately sold to their customers.
Gradually more and more people were interested in buying goods offered on the Plasabali.com website so Ignatius and Puspa decided to gather craftsmen and build their own production facilities in the city of Denpasar. This enables them to expand the business, manufacture and make high quality silver jewelery items to the standards their buyers demand.
Until now, with the help of the hands and expertise of their talented craftsmen and silversmiths, they continue to maintain the traditional silver jewelry production methods passed down from the ancestors of Indonesian silversmiths. Because in essence, the sprits and artistic taste contained in a piece of jewelry that is hand-made with patience, perseverance and love will always be attached to the work and this
what makes the handcrafted silver jewelry in the end always be more desirable to buyers than items that was just made from a massive productions with the use of machines.
