food, food, food..

For tourists in Bali it is probably easier to find Mexican, Continental, or even Indonesian food rather than the indigenous island cooking. However..

Specialities of the Balinese Cuisine

Babi Guling - Suckling pig roasted on a spit, stuffed with herbs, spices, chillies and rice.
Bebek Betutu - Duck smoked in an earthen oven. Bubuh Injin - Coconut rice-pudding with fruit.
Lawar - Made of thinly chopped papaya, jackfruit, green beans, grated coconut, starfiuit leaves and various indigenous spices. This dish is served with a variety of meats, such as pork or duck.

Indonesia Specialities

Sate - Beef or chicken kebabs served with a peanut sauce.
Nasi Goreng - Fried Rice with an assortment of ingredients such as; chicken, vegetables, pork, beef Served with prawn crackers and a fried egg.
Mie Goreng - As above, but using noodles instead of rice.
Ayam Goreng/Bakar - Chicken Fried/Roasted.
Cap Cay ( protiounced chap chai)  - Stir-fried vegetables.
Gado-Gado - An assortment of parboiled and fresh vegetables laced together with a peanut sauce.
Rujak - A spicy (hot), sweet fruit salad.
Padang Food - Spicy food from Sumatra - the most democratic meal ever, with 12 or more dishes are brought to your table with a choice of beef, prawns, vegetables, eggs, three types of chicken, offal, even soup and chili... and you only pay for what you eat!

Restaurant Review

In the heart of the Nusa Dua Galeria shopping complex, On The Rocks successfully combines the atmosphere of a festive Sunday Barbeque and a romantic sidewalk cafe. For starters, the do-it-yourself cooking concept immediately imbues the diner with a sense of fun and adventure, as to the meal, that's about to follow. To prepare yourself, start with the Hot Rock Special, a tropical cocktail with a kick, or sip an ice cold beer in preparation for the scorching feast. The obvious choice for the main course, of course, is something 'on the rocks' Highly recommended are; the Yellow Fin Tuna, the Australian Tender Beef Medallions, the giant Benoa 'Prawns or the juicy Pork which arrive at your table fresh and, as yet, uncooked. All "hot Rock" meals come with a baked potato lathered in sour cream, a side salad, a sauteed vegetable medley and a choice of mouthwatering sauces. Treat yourself at On The Rocks to a delicious, interactive, healthy, dining expérience. Catch Galeria Nusa Dua's shuttle service
