Eco Interest Spots

Bali barat National park 

Almost all of the western tip of 13ali (covering 750 sq. km), has been deemed a conservation area. The park is a haven for a wide range of animals and birds, especially the endangered Bal Starling. There are quite a few trails open to visitors. Pulau Menjangan, home to the rare Java Deer, can also be visited and has great diving and snorkelling. To enter the park, you must be accompanied by an official guide, and you must posses a park permit, obtainable at the National Park Headquarters in Cekik, 3km south of Gilimanuk. Botanical Gardens 

Kebun Raya Eka Karya, Bedugul. Est. in 1959, these gardens cover over 120 hectares on Gunung Pohon (tree mountain). The gardens contain a huge collection of trees, nearly 500 varietis of orchid, and are rich in birdlife. See Bali Road Map (centrefold)- * J4 

Sangeh & Ubud Mongkey forest 

Near the village of sangeh and Ubud.  The main attractions here are the hordes of balinese monkeys that inhabit the trees and the temple. Visitor should be aware that these monkeys are attracted to shiny objects, so cameras and jewellery should be left behind, well hidden, or stored in a bag, before setting off to explore. Blahmantung

Near Pupuan, west Bali.Dropping over 100m, this waterfall is spectacular, especially during the rainy season. Be prepared for tough trekking up a steep, and at times rough, track to get there. See Bali Road Map (centrefold) - *15.

Gitgit Waterfall

10km south of Singaraja. Not far from the main road, Gitgit is an impressive 40m multitiered waterfall that gushes into deep pools. A swim here can be very refreshing, although local legend believes that couples bathing here together, will eventually separate. See Bali Road Map (centrefold) - *J3.
